(Jump to Resources)

The literacy partner supports student learning by collaborating with teachers and administrators to model best practices and research-based teaching strategies to support student learning and school improvement goals for kindergarten through grade eight.

As part of our System Plan: “Achievement in Motion” the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board goal is to deliver an extraordinary educational experience for every student with a commitment to continuous improvement and success for all. Part of this plan includes the innovative use of Ministry, Board and school resources to align strategies, training, supports and instructional materials to maximize student performance. The Board is also looking for opportunities to support the system as a professional learning community and establish indicators for assessing progress.

Literacy partner

Research indicates that leadership is the key to increasing student achievement on a large scale. In their capacity as school leaders, principals and a teacher acting collaboratively in the role of a Literacy Partner can exert a great deal of  influence on teaching and learning. This partnership sustains their capacity to work with staff on the effective use of student data to improve student learning. Administrators will work with the Literacy Partner to create in-school collaborative learning teams for kindergarten through grade eight that focus on achievement patterns and effective instruction, and lead the way for informed improvement planning.
