 Guidance and Career Education
Programs to assist students making transitions

The Guidance and Career Education programs play a central role in secondary schools. The programs help to prepare students for educational, social and career success in the 21st Century.

Learning objectives

  • Students will learn how to relate what they learn in school to the community, understand and value education and lifelong learning, develop learning and employability skills and strategies, and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • The programs also assist students as they make transitions throughout their lives—apprenticeship, college, university and/or work.
  • Through learning activities that emphasize managing time, completing tasks, setting goals, resolving conflicts, volunteering, collaborating and cooperating, students will develop/refine self-discipline, personal and social responsibility and respect for others from diverse backgrounds.

     Working this Summer?

             Safety First!

Summer is almost here and many students in Grade 7 – 12 will soon begin summer jobs. It is everyone's responsibility to help them be safe.

The Ministry of Education and Ministry of Labour have prepared information sheets to increase awareness of young people's legal rights and duties in the workplace.
